Question: Why do people drink wine instead of coke in restaurants?

It depends what kind of restaurant you are at. At the "ritzy " restaurants, wine is more common but at the more "normal " places coke is more common because it's cheaper. Wine is actually very good for you and does compliment most high-class meals.
