I'm looking for a good wine for a wine enthusiast any suggestions?
My fiance's father is a big wine enthusiast and he's taught me most of what I know about wine and I'm looking for a good wine for him in the range of $50 $100.

Good present for wine enthusiast?
My sister loves smelling wine, and tasting wine, and guessing what's in it. She really good at it too. I want to get her something for her birthday in october that would go with this theme. The problem is she is only 16. So I can't get her a wine of the month membership or anything like that. I was thinking maybe a tour of a vineyard? I'd love some other ideas, or suggestions of good vineyards in new york. thanks

Any wine enthusiasts that can give me some details and thoughts on wine essence kits?
My boyfriend has newly found love of wine and can't fill his head with enough knowledge on the subject. I have seen these kits, " wine essence kits" , that are made to enhance the understanding of all the different components of wine tasting...as I am sure you know. Which leads to my question, would you recommend such kits to a wine lover with an already fairly refined palate? And if so, they range in size and cost from 17 70 essences and $50 $400, so what should I look for when considering my purchase?

What exactly makes a wine enthusiast a "snob"?
We hear the term all the time, but the exact definition seems kind of vague and shapeless. Beyond merely insulting someone, what do you really mean when you call someone this?I'd like to hear from both people who are knowledgeable about wine and people who aren't, for different perspectives. And by all means, feel free to psychoanalyze and speculate on the other side too At the same time, I ask you to also ponder, what makes someone who is knowledgable and or passionate about ANYTHING a " snob" about their given interest what makes someone a widget snob rather than a widget lover, when does love of widgets become combative or divisive ?If mere knowledge of a subject is snobbery, then every damn one of us is a snob about something, so then what's the point of labeling someone a snob?Actually my question was inspired after reading someone else's question, where many responders accused her of being a snob I felt the accusations were warrantless, got peeved, and voila, asked this question lol.

Sweet Wines for a Non-Wine Enthusiast?
Ok up front I will say I am NOT a wine enthusiast. I am young 21 and I am working on trying to find a wine I like. Several friends and family have been inviting me to wineries for tastings or little outings, and I would really like to go and be able to try something other than water I have tried Chardonnay, Lambrusco, and a white Zinfindale. I am NOT at all turned on by these wines thus I have been told to head for the sweets. After some research I'm really interested in the dessert wines I plan on buying a few different types before I go to the winery so I'm looking for common brands and such. Any help would be appreciated The sweeter the better

Wine Enthusiasts! I need help!!?
I had tried several wines, only to be disappointed to find I did not like the taste. I'm only 22, and I suppose my palate had not developed yet. I love trying foods, and I really do eat all types. Anywhere from sushi, raw oysters, all types of cuisine, I can't really think of food I don't like. The down side, I always found it so disappointing that I couldn't enjoy a fine wine with my meal. Friends and family had invited me to wine tasting, but I always declined the invitation. I didn't want anyone to spend their time and effort, for something I wasn't going to fully enjoy. Last weekend I finally found a Rose that appealed to me I was invited this weekend to a wine tasting, so now my questions Should I bring a wine journal? What can I expect? What type of attire? Dinner is part of the ticket, do people normally bring any types of food into the wine tasting? cheeses, fruits, chocolates?Proper wine etiquette?Any other tips would be greatly appreciated Thank you for your time Thanks for your help I would like to add, the wine tasting is going to done at a vineyard, not a home. Reservations were made in advance, and the tickets include dinner, and a concert. I don't know if that would change any answers. Thanks so much everyone
