Start one. Get a bunch of your friends together and have each person bring a bottle (not every person needs to bring one, you could rotate or something) that fits the same theme. The themes could be anything like: A Napa Cab from 2003 less than $25. A Chardonnay from any region but less than $10. Zin from any region but only 2004 etc. Have a different person in the club host each meeting (monthly, probably) and the host can provide simple snacks. You could all go in together for a nice set of tasting glasses (you'll need 3 or 4 per person) and then pass them around for each meeting. If you live in an area with wineries your club could go on an outing to one or several of them. There are services out there in larger cities that will throw you a wine party, but you'd have to seek that out yourself. |
