Wine Club Information

Question: Do you belong to a wine club at a local tasting room/winery? what makes it the best wine club? how do i choose

We have lots of vineyards around us- - - some small, some large. All offer wine clubs. It is hard to choose. What should I look for? What is a decent price?

OK, first you have to actually like their wine. Visit the tasting rooms. Then see the prices and amenities the club offeres. I belong to the Mumms Club. I get two bottles of Mumms every two months, and it comes with tasting notes, a recipe, and a little gift (keychain, mousepad, calendar, stuff like that.) That runs me about $40 for 6 deliveries a year, plus an opt-in for the once a year DVX release. Then I can also get discounts at the winery for wines and gift shop, and invitations to dinners and photo exhibits. So find the wine you like, and then look at what perks they offer. I can use my member number for other people too.

A decent price is one you are happy to pay. Check the web sites and read the conditions of the wine clubs, compare what they offer and choose what you prefer. I don't belong to a winery specific wine club. My only issue with winery specific clubs is you have to really like their wine because that is all you get. It tough because wine quality changes over time due to weather, new winemakers, etc. Make sure its somewhere you really like. If you want something with verity try a general wine club. I belong to Gold Medal Wine Club. I get something new each month and so far it all has been pretty good.
