Usually you wouldn't add *only* wine and a lot of it to a slow cooker, but a weaker alcohol like beer would be fine to do that way. As to the taste, wine gives a certain flavor to cooked foods even if it cooks a long time and it's a little hard to describe the taste... most people really like it though. You could try just adding a little wine to your slow cooker along with the water or broth if you add that, or add a little to any sauce you make on the stovetop, etc., just to see what it tastes like in general. Or check out some of these recipes for chicken legs cooked in slow cookers with wine for some ideas: google.com/ search?hl= en &q= recipes+ chicken+ legs+ slow+ cooker+ wine+ -baked (And btw, meats *don't* have to be browned before being added to a slow cooker, but some people do that or do it at least sometimes.) If you're interested in a lot more info about cooking chicken in particular in slow cookers, and so it's not dry in general, (dark meat will work better than white meat chicken in a slow cooker, btw), check out my answers in these previous questions: answers.yahoo.com/ question/ index;_ylt= AonFqpn7Fl0DYOB._ZNYdzYAAAAA;_ylv= 3?qid= 20091017124004AASe3jT answers.yahoo.com/ question/ index?qid= 20090614115430AAzxP84 HTH

Don't use all white wine, use 3 parts chicken broth to 1 part wine. Wine brings out the chickens natural flavours. Be sure to brown your chicken legs before you place them in the crock pot, or they will come out chewy and mucky. Try adding some fresh tarragon or oregano.

I would definitely use chicken broth, if you're trying to make a chicken soup. The white wine would be better for making sauces to simmer chicken in.

Personally, I wouldn't use it, unless the wine was mixed with broth, sauce of some sort or water. I don't think it will taste as good, otherwise. Adding water to your above listed ingredients will cause the chicken to make its own broth. Adding white wine to the water will make this taste great!

I'd use a combination; maybe 1 cup of chicken broth & 1/ 2 cup of white wine. Wines add a fruity quality to the broth; try a little to start with. You could also use apple juice for a similar fruitiness.

I would use chicken stock when using vegetables you can thicken it to make a gravy when cooked. I like wine when cooking chicken alone. You basically have a stew going you may wish to add tinned diced tomatoes or peas or green beans for color and nutrition balance.
