Some rose wines can have the "bitter " taste to it. It depends on the winery, when the wine was made and all that. Not all white wines have the bitter taste. If you go with the sweet wines like Niagara, Catawba or Traminet (not sure of the spelling, but it's a nice wine), you will have the sweeter taste you seem to want. Also, not all reds are dry. For a sweet red, you could go with Concord (very sweet, it's what Welch's makes their grape juice with) or Fredonia. The second one is a very pretty colored red, with a very fruity taste to it. If you're not sure about going with either reds or whites, but still want to try something else a bit on the sweet side, you could try a blush. Some blushes, like rose, can be sweet or dry, depending on the winery. You might also like white zinfandel. Your best bet would be to either visit a winery, a wine tasting party or just ask a clerk at your local wine and spirits store. They should be able to point you in the right direction, and make some suggestions that I've missed here. Good luck and happy hunting. Just remember, wine really only has one purpose. It is to be enjoyed, and if you can share it with friends, you've just multiplied the enjoyment. |
