Question: Can people be allergic to port wine?

Yes. My mother was allergic to it.

People can be allergic to anything

Could be something in that particular brand, some finishing agent or ingredient, or all port. Could be something you ate earlier in the day that was made worse by drinking port or a coincidence that you drank the port at all. All sorts of possibilities.
