You can buy simple kits that require minimal equipment. Once you have got the hang of kits you can start using your own fruit/ veg and fermenting it from scratch. Enjoy

You can make prison wine (the easier version) by combining yeast, fruit juice, and anything else to the taste into a garbage bag and letting it sit for a couple of days. = ]

All i know is that it costs a lot of money!! 600 for the grape crusher itself, and 400 for the containers to keep the wine in! my mom and her boyfriend made wine this past September and now its aging!

Check out this website eckraus.com. It is an excellent source for recipies, supplies and info on how to get started. I just started my first batch. A simple recipe...for 1 gallon of wine get 4 containers of your favorite frozen concentrated fruit juice. Empty the contents into a 1 gallon jug. I used an old Maulls BBQ sauce bottle. Add 1 cup sugar for each container. Fill the jug up with water leaving about 1/ 2 inch at the top. Mix the contents by swirling your jug. Then add about 2 teaspoons of yeast. I used a cork to plug the top of the jug. Before inserting the cork, insert a piece of plastic tubing through the cork. Run the other end of the tubing to another bottle containing water. Insert the cork into the jug so that the end of the tubing is above the water level. The ohter end of the tubing needs to be in the water in the other bottle. Shortly your jug should begin to bubble(ferment). It will take about 10-14 days to complete the fermentation. After the jug stops bubbling, filter the contents. You may need to do this several times till the liquid is clear. Then you can bottle it and enjoy some of your wine. If the wine is not to your taste, you can add more sugar and more yeast and do another fermentation of your wine. Good luck!!

There is a GREAT book, called From Vines to Wines. Lays out everything for the first timer. Really great resource even if you never end up making wine. Give a great explaination about the process, and why certain things are important and often discussed among wine geeks.
