It depends on your taste in wine. Do you like sweet, tart, fruity? I'm guessing you are new to wine drinking but like some of the wine you have tried. California wines can be decent. Old vine Zinfandel is a semi sweet red that usually satisfies. Merlot is pretty tasty, and one of my favorites. So is Cabernet. The French wines are also quite good, and they don't contain any sulfides as American wines do. I also like some of the Australian wines on the market. Some South American wines are also very nice, Malbec is also one of my favorites. White wine is, generally speaking, best for foods like chicken or seafood, and it's quite pleasant to sip on a warm day. Pricing can also vary, and an expensive bottle of wine doesn't necessarily mean you are going to get greatness. You can buy a 10.00 bottle and a 25.00 bottle and find you like the 10.00 one much better. Just sample some different wines with your honey and eventually you will develop a fondness for the ones you like best, and of course, it's not always just the wine that makes the time. It's the conversation and company as well. Enjoy! Chef Steve |
