Question: Can you think of activities involving french wine?

(Posted by: helpmehelpyou on 2009-04-28 16:02:54)

I'm doing a presentation about French wine and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to what types of activities/ games I could do to get the class involved. However, I can't actually have any activities that involve the consumption of wine. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

One idea is to tell the class about the characteristics of the different types of wine. People sort through the characteristics and determine what kind of wine suits them. Another idea is to talk about what wines go with different cuisine.

If you cant drink the wine that poses problems-u could bring in some french cheese and french bread and other french foods etc.. and pass em round for the class to enjoy. no matter what age your students i dont think theyd say no to a bit of french bread n cheese. other than that i dont know any activity involving wine that does not also involve its consumption.

You could do a quiz on French wine bottle shapes, there are different shapes from different regions of France and you can get the class to identify that.. Or you can also play identify the wine label guess the type of wine that the label identifies.. Also, for my French wine presentation, I brought in a map of France with wine-making region names and whomever identifies the major grapes used in the area in the least amount of time with the most right answers won a paid lunch..

You could sample the wines yourself in advance and identify the smells of the wines. Then bring in some foods, including those you identified as the smells of the wines. Have your students eat the different foods and swirl and smell the wine. See if they can identify the different smells a wine has. Food is a great way for people to train their palates. Sample reds and whites, because then you will have more smells to identify.
