Id like to know if it is good to cook with, and I am curious as to the value. Thanks!

Sunrise is a brand of the good value Concha y Toro winery in Chile. Carmenere is a grape variety so similar to Merlot that for many years until recently it was assumed to be Merlot, but I think Carmenere is richer and more lush, and it made the reputation of Chile 'Merlots' :) Cook with it? Yes, no problem and it will be good to drink. It is by no means an expensive wine, around $6-$10 depending on the outlet.

Emerill says "don't cook with anything you wouldn't drink ". So, if you'd drink it...I don't see why not. Go for it. One for the pot, 2 for me :D (**)

Good evening. the carmenere grape is one of the good ones - especially if it is from the Central valley in chile. better to drink than to use in cooking.
