Question: Is california wine more acidic than most?
(Posted by: Bo P on 2009-08-18 10:38:10)
Or did i just get crap. compared to the french stuff, its acidic and bad even though its the same grape. Is it that the grapes taste different due to climate or soil? is californian wines aged less? or is it the way it is stored? in general i find other wines better, like chilean or french etc. um, nothing against california btw :) im sure it will taste fine after a few glasses ;) |

Sounds like you just got a dud bottle. In general Californian wines are some of the best around. Check out the BBC series Oz and James Wine adventure where they travel through CA checking out the various wineries. |

American wines are slightly acidic, Hydrochloric, sulphuric and nitric acid, but fortunately it is neutralised by the high vinegar content and vast amount of watering down. |
